Covid spike on campus; Where to get free tests

Updated: May 30, 2023

The spark of Covid-19 cases on campus has caused some concern. From last week, the number of positive cases grew by 12 going from 26 to 38 and the number of students in quarantine increased to 62.

On October 9th, President Chillo addressed these updated cases with a statement to the community. "The number of positive Covid cases have increased, but those numbers still remain in our “low” threshold (less than 5% of our total population at Thomas More) and have occurred in sub-populations that we were able to identify." Chillo said.

"With many of the recent positive tests being among athletes, there is some concern with how other teams are being kept safe when sharing the same facilities." Says Terry Conner.

Being quarantined on or off-campus is also something that can be difficult. “When I got Covid, it really messed up my life”, said sophomore volleyball player Rachel Berwanger. “I missed out on my classes, work and volleyball. We were practicing for three months and had four games that we never got to play because we all had to quarantine”, Berwanger says.
