The Saints beat Cumberland University 10-3 Saturday night at Republic Bank Field.
Junior Quarterback Blaine Espinosa's pass to Junior Roques Dowdy scored the only touchdown in the game in the first quarter. Senior Alexander Haley kicked the field goal for the extra point putting the Saints in the lead 7-0.
In the third quarter, Haley kicked a 26-yard field goal progressing the Saints' lead to 10-0.
The fourth quarter of the game saw some excitement. With a little less than 5 minutes remaining in the game, Cumberland made a 33-yard field goal making the score 10-3. In the last minute of the game, Cumberland was on offense when Senior Peyton Van Horn intercepted the ball.
Van Horn's interception secured the Saints' victory over Cumberland with the score of 10-3,
making the Saints' record 4-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
Saturday (November 6th) the Saints' will be playing at Bethel University (Tenn.) at 2:30 pm.
